The Eye of the Storm
Two weeks ago my family and I rode out the historic powerful Hurricane Micheal sitting in my mother’s home in Haines City, FL far away from the eye of the storm. Our home in Panama City withstood high winds and the only damage was a busted door. The area around us like, Panama City and Lynn Haven, sustained significant damage. The worst damage occurred in Mexico Beach, FL which was virtually destroyed. The panhandle had never encountered a hurricane this big or this powerful before and although there were casualties most of the people survived. The locals, the entire state of Florida and the country came together quickly to bring essential supplies, tools, money, and most of all their time filled with love. The recovery process has begun with help from neighbors, acquaintances and strangers, proving once again we are stronger together when we share ourselves, resources and time. People survived and will rebuild the cities, the damage will be repaired better and stronger than before. My family and I appreciate every first responder, family members, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and complete strangers that packed up supplies, tools, and themselves to travel to the Florida panhandle, helping comfort and start the recovery process. We can’t express enough the appreciation we have for you all. Special appreciation for the hundreds of linemen that have restored power and still working to restore power in some areas…we thank you!
Every single experience shapes us, changes us based on how we perceive the experience to be. In the eye of the storm, we can choose to keep focused on the positive aspects of our experiences or the negative. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Find the positive aspects of your experience or something to appreciate, you will feel better and the outcome will be more positive. Speak the positive aspects and things you appreciate out loud, write them down, think about them without ceasing and your entire life will shift. When things seem darkest, keep living in love, find something to appreciate, share yourself authentically, keep your focus on Source, and your path will be lit showing you the way through the valley. The darkness didn’t come to stay, it came to pass, and this too will pass. Amen
